WHAT IS H1B VISA

The H1B is a Visa in United States under the immigration and nationality act. This act allows United States employers to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations.

They are highly skilled workers or highly specialized knowledge in a field of human endeavor including but not limited to biotechnology, chemistry, architecture, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences,social sciences,medicine and health, education,law, accounting, business specialities, technology and the arts.

 

“Buy American,Hire American”

This was the order given by president Donald Trump to reform the H1B visa system.

The United States of  Home Land Security is a cabinet department of the United States federal government with responsibilities in public security roughly comparable to the interior or home ministry of other countries.

H1B visa program was intended to serve employers who could not find the skilled workers. They needed in the United States.

Most people believe that employers are supposed to recruit Americans before they petition for an H1-B worker. Yet, under the law, most employers are not required to prove to the department of labour that they tried to find an American to fill the job first .

Effect on Indian professionals

H1-B visa program was begun in 1990.each year the US government gives out a maximum of 65,000 H1-B visas, and an additional 20,000 to employees with master digrees from American Universities.

High percentage of Indian IT workers are floating for H1-B visas over the years. From the beginning of this program almost 65% of H1-B applications went to mostly Indian tech workers .In 2016, IANS report saying that 72% of all H1-B visas issued by the US world wide went to Indians.
